CaTECHesis with HOT TECH Tools
A fast-paced experience with tools for ministers to engage students, families, and parish groups in evangelization and catechesis. Catechetical leaders will identify Web 2.0 technologies and mobile applications, understand the new lingo for the latest technologies, and dig into the latest technological innovations. From A (Animoto) to Z (Zamzar), no less than 20 types of tools will be explored. Guided by experts, you will leave with a number of practical tools in your technology toolbox. Catechetical leaders at all levels of experience will benefit from this post-conference session. You will also have the opportunity to join a Facebook HOT TECH Tools group, which will allow participates to be virtually present to one another after the conference to continue sharing ideas and mentoring one another.
To fully participate, bring a laptop or tablet. Bring a smart phone and/or digital camera or webcam, if you have one. Dr. Caroline Cerveny, SSJ-TOSF is a teacher, catechetical leader, blogger, and avid learner who rejoices in mentoring others in 21st Century learning experiences using social media and technology. She has been involved in educational technology since 1984. She brings the experience of teaching at the high school and college levels, involvement in parish religious education as a diocesan director and consultant, parish pastoral associate, and involvement in educational technology in the publishing industry. Dr. Cerveny currently serves as founder and president of Interactive Connections, a training service for faith-based educational technology and social media.

Tim Welch is the Consultant for Educational Technology at Catholic Education Ministries, Diocese of Saint Cloud, MN. He is the author of “Technology Tools for Your Ministry: No Mousing Around!” (Twenty-Third Publications) and writes a column for Creative Catechist: A Religion Teacher’s Journal. He also serves as a Consultant for Technology and Catechesis for Our Sunday Visitor’s Curriculum Division, formerly Harcourt Religion Publishers. With degrees in, Theology, Religious Education and Electronics, and more than 30 years of experience at the parish and diocesan levels, he is constantly seeking ways of journeying with others to implement new technologies that can serve ministry and catechesis.
