502 Español Lupita VitalDescubrir, Capacitar y Enviar a Líderes Catequéticos Para descubrir y capacitor a líderes catequéticos tenemos que recordar permanentemente y analizar las necesidades de cada parroquia en particular, además de proporcionar capacitación adecuada y asesoramiento para su crecimiento personal, lograda por una preparación integral y permanente. Para que de este modo logren ser dirigentes de sus comunidades con mejores relaciones personales entre sí y un acompañamiento adecuado. En este taller analizaremos puntos claves, algunos métodos e ideas nuevas que nos ayuden a enviar a líderes catequéticos preparados a llevar a cabo la misión de catequizar y evangelizar en este mundo multicultural la misión de Jesús.

The questions remain on how to reach the multitudes. In this session we will discuss the most effective 'traction' and 'retention' techniques to build your own online presence.
504 Leadership Fr. Bud Kaicher and staff of St. Francis of Assisi, Vista, CAWorking Well with Catholic School Personnel We will share with participants the journey of our parish staff (school and catechetical staff) to develop a vision for working together effectively as one body sharing parish facilities. After sharing our successes and failures, we will invite participants to share their own successes and failures, and facilitate a period of thinking collectively about how to achieve our common goal of working together to build up the Kingdom of God.
We are six individuals serving the Roman Catholic Church in the Diocese of San Diego: the Principal of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School, the Pastoral Associates for English and Spanish speaking ministry, the Sacramental Preparation Coordinators for English and Spanish speaking children, the Coordinator for Youth and Young Adult ministry and the Pastor of the Church of St. Francis of Assisi. We have worked in the parish for as many as 33 years and as few as one year. We are diverse in age, cultural background, pastoral experience and educational background. Our parish website is

505 Theology Dr. José Antonio Medina, SThDOur Lady of Guadalupe: A New Interpretation of the Story, Apparitions, and Image The appearances of Our Lady of Guadalupe coincide with the birth of Hispanic culture in America and the evangelization of the continent. In this session we will make an interpretation of the symbols and signs contained in the Aztec narrative “Nican Mopohua” which means “here is told, is set down in order”. We will also explain why the Guadalupe Tradition among Latinos is so important, especially among the people from Mexico and Central America.

508 Morality Update Dr. Michael Steier Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizens"The Church wishes to help form consciences in political life and to stimulate greater insight into the authentic requirements of justice as well as greater readiness to act accordingly" (Pope Benedict XVI, Deus Caritas Est, no. 28). Participants will be introduced to the U.S. Bishops document "Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship" via a PowerPoint presentation and some very helpful handouts. This session is particularly designed for parish and diocesan catechetical leaders, catechists and Catholic school teachers as they prepare their various constituencies to live their faith in the public square and protect the lives and dignity of the poor and vulnerable.
